Antler Gallery Internship 2017 - Portland OR
"Happy Camper" by David Rice
Antler Gallery is seeking an intern for a 3-6 month period beginning in late Summer 2017.
The ideal candidate will have an existing understanding of, and passion for, the specific genre of art we show and will be familiar with prominent artists both in Portland and beyond.
Preference will be given to candidates who are motivated to learn the inner workings of curating a space and hope to pursue a career in the art-world. Ideally you will be able to apply your experience with Antler Gallery as school credit on an art-related course.
The internship is in two parts (three months each), both of which culminate with the execution of a curatorial project, the nature of the project will be specifically designed around the interests and goals of the intern. If you successfully complete the first curatorial assignment you will be given the option to stay for a further three months to complete a second, more in-depth project.
Beyond this, you will be required to help with the general running of the gallery, working one or two days per week depending on availability. This provides the participant with a good overview of the day-to-day running of a gallery and maintenance of a space. If the applicant is a visual artist, this will provide good experience in how to approach, apply to, and correspond with curators and galleries.
