Adele Renault

​Adele Renault, an artist from Belgium who currently resides in the Netherlands, has been leaving her mark across the United States in the form of large scale mural work. Her most recent project was for Facebook in California. Renault’s work presents a wonderful aspect to this show from a curatorial point of view, via her focus on the most pervasive and perhaps most persecuted of thriving urban wildlife: pigeons. She has a remarkable ability to showcase the most spectacular aspects of our scruffy neighbors. Of course pigeons have a long history as ornamental and useful allies but such is their ability to dominate the urban domain we tend to only focus on them as crumb guzzling, shit-bombing, pests. Renault has a way of alerting us to their more sophisticated traits.
