Allison Sommers’ work is steeped in historical objects and references, imploring the viewer to examine the past as a means of understanding the present. Zeppelins, religious icons and ephemera abound within an imagined world which is in a state of steady decay. She possesses an old-world quality that is apparent not only in her subject matter but also in her muted palette and distinctive style. Sommers currently resides in Brooklyn and has been showing with Antler Gallery for approximately four years.
