Hickory Mertsching - Taverns
Hickory's latest series is a reflection on the advertisements you might expect to find in Taverns throughout the Midwest, where he grew up. His approach to still life is a traditional one, using arrangements of actual objects that he has collected over the years. From his father's fishing rod, to old cans gifted to him by friends, and actual fish he caught himself, the work tells a story of his life through a particular aesthetic lens.
