This series of five circular pieces explore fascinating narratives that serve to provide a critical commentary on established ideas as well as how we choose to interact with the world around us and the repercussions of those decisions. These moments are set in an era that seems, only very slightly, to have preceded the one we exist in presently by way of the aesthetic choices she makes with her characters, her earthy color palette, as well as the traditional painting style.
Hamel’s work is included in the permanent art collections of the Archives of Ontario/Government of Ontario, the Omer DeSerres Corporation and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, as well as in private collections in Canada, the US and Europe.
