Tyler Thrasher is as much a chemist as he is an artist. Experimenting with various chemical processes in his lab he crystalizes a variety of natural objects, including insects, skulls and reptile skeletons. Thrasher is a native of Oklahoma who has spent his life following his impulses and exploring the natural world at every turn. This journey has sculpted a young man who seems at complete ease with himself and his environment. In the face of his home burning down, a home he had built with his wife Molly, and in which their beloved pet hedgehog died, his genuine, sweet and heartfelt response prompted a slew of fans and collectors to donate to help them get their life back on track. The overwhelming desire of strangers to see the couple get back on their feet is a testament to the wonderful nature they both project into the world. In this latest series Thrasher has a selection of crystalized works alongside some graphite drawings. He will also be visiting Portland in mid-December when Antler will host a pop-up shop of his works as part of the exhibition.
