Lori Damiano describes her paintings as a combination of moments she has “witnessed in my little life so far combined with my own lo fi utopian visions”. The works explore moments of intentional togetherness as well as solitary pursuits, they feel intensely prescient during the current enforced isolation the global population is experiencing. Lori loves to paint humans in a moment of cognition or reaction allowing the viewer to find themselves present at the crossroads of a particular experience in time. In any given moment we are all doing our best with the circumstances at hand and in her paintings Lori hopes to honor the imperfect pursuit of learning to be a better version of ourselves. The artist talks about her own practice as “a never-ending quest to provide a visual buffet of various manifestations of humans striving”.
