Caitlin Hackett, who is based in Oakland California, describes her works as contemporary mythology, inspired by her up-bringing amongst the redwoods and fertile coastline of Northern California. This most recent series incorporates human masks into her more familiar macabre animal portraiture works. The human masks represent our tendency to use our human facade to hide our animal nature.
