Mwanel Pierre-Louis is a Miami-based painter, born in NY and of Haitian descent, who creates semi-abstracted portraiture. For this latest series he has utilized the transitional nature of the pandemic as a source of inspiration for the concepts underpinning his latest series. The paintings are a celebration of the resilience and strength of people who have taken the opportunity to grow and embrace new journeys and experiences.
Mwanel Pierre-Louis & Antler Gallery
We first met Mwanel while attending SCOPE during Art Basel. He is one of the people we always enjoy catching up with when we visit. He has participated in several group exhibitions with us over the last three years and this is his first feature exhibit at Antler Gallery. His paintings, semi-abstracted portraiture, convey fragmented moments and experiences. The imagery draws heavily upon pop references and personal interactions and are defined by their dynamic utilization of color.
