Home (For Now) is a collection of thirteen gouache paintings on panel, paper, and foraged driftwood.
I made these paintings while renting a one-bedroom apartment in SE Portland. All of these works are a response to and record of my time there: how I influenced the space by inhabiting it, what I collected, what changed, and what remained the same.I am interested in depicting the enmeshment of art and life; looking at art as well as making it, and how these two rituals inform each other. In these paintings I aimed to capture nostalgia, comfort, loneliness, and tenderness using pattern, layered paint strokes, light source and color.
This collection is now evidence of a past life.
